A short film which I filmed and edited in Coventry for a second year university project.

The film tells the story of a man of a very reclusive nature who has trouble communicating with others, when he sees a girl who lives opposite him. He longs to go over to talk to her, but is unable to let go of the issues with his confidence.

The House Across the Street was one of the first professional short films I had ever been involved in and the video went through two completely different drafts in the editing process which were almost unrecognisable from each other.

All audio was recorded seperately and the film was shot in one day. Titles and credits were also created by myself.

This short film was once again filmed and edited by myself and combines two parallel storylines between an idyllic stroll through nature, juxtaposed with imprisonment.

The process of editing here had to make sure that various images created a sense of symbolism and translated well with each other in order to create the intended narrative and mood.

Great care had to be taken to make sure that the video was also edited in time with the soundtrack to convey a sense of pace, which mirrored the character's slow walk through the natural surroundings.

The film was shot in November but was still able to capture the last remnants of Autumn. which allowed for some nice use of colour.

'People to People' is a documentary I helped organise and produce in my first year of university and is about the reasons for why boxing gyms are important to communities and the difficulties places like this have to face.

This was the first time I had ever edited and filmed anything in a documentary style and is a project that took considerable research beforehand in order to achieve the correct style.

It was important to ensure that the look of it did not turn out like a short film which is what I had been used to editing at the time and that its identity was immediately definable as a documentary.

'People to People' demonstrates an effective pace and ability in establishing the main focus and subject in a short documentary.

'Rifle in my hands'

'Rifle in my hands' was the first project I was approached to edit and the first professional client I have worked for.

James Dann is a director and camera operator of his own documentaries that are about many issues and debates going on in the world today.

He has and still is filming projects from all around the world and is quickly building up an impressive filmography.

James Dann was incredibly pleased with how 'Rifle in my hands' turned out; which was filmed during peacful protests in Russia, that he is a client I continue to work with today on most of his latest projects due to building up a good working rapport.

The editing process of this video also included adding in subtitles throughout the film based on a script that was provided to me.
